Choral auditions: Gorey Choral Group will be holding auditions for new members on Wednesday, August 28, in the Ashdown Park Hotel.
The choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Ashdown Park Hotel from September to early May and performs in a number of concerts and competitions throughout the year as well as enjoying some fun, social outings.

All are invited to a coffee morning in the Loch Garman Arms hotel from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Friday, August 23, in aid of the Ronald McDonald House charity.
There will also be a raffle on the day, with lots of different prizes that have been donated by local businesses.
The charity provides 20 families every night with accommodation, care and support while their children are suffering from illness in Crumlin Children's Hospital.

Gorey Boxing Club will play host to Gorey summer bridge, costing €5 per person and running every Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. sharp during August.

Gorey Christian Assembly is hosting a weekly food bank from now on, on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for those in need of a food parcel, a hot beverage or just a bit of company.
All are welcome to attend at the Gorey Christian Assembly building that's located on the Heath, Ramsgate Village, Gorey and there is no charge or strings attached.

Trans support group
Gorey Youth Needs is providing monthly support meetings for adults in a non-judgemental environment for those who identify as trans or non-binary and for those who are questioning, to express themselves freely and find support.

SVP shop donations
The St Vincent de Paul furniture shop in Gorey welcome donations of good, clean sale worthy furniture, bric-á-brac, rugs, etc.
The team will come and collect the furniture or any items.
The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

CCE Gorey/Ballygarrett weekly trad session will take place every Monday throughout the summer at 8 p.m. in the Loch Garman Arms.
The cost for adults is €5 per session, children go free. All are welcome.
Dressado hosts its first ever fashion show for the Irish Cancer Society on Thursday, September 1, at the Amber Springs Hotel from 7 p.m. Tickets cost €47.50.
All are welcome for a night of entertainment.

The Jack and Jill Gorey shop is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The team are currently accepting donations of clothing, footwear, homewares, CDs, DVDs and furniture.

All are invited to Ballymoney Golf Club on Friday, August 30, for the annual golf classic in aid of St Columba's Old Folks Club, Gorey.

Country music star Mike Denver will take to the Gorey stage at the Amber Springs Hotel on Thursday, August 22, with doors opening at 7.30 p.m. and the show starting at 8.30 p.m.
The event is being organised by Oulart the Ballagh GAA Club and tickets are €20.
Gorey Active Retirement
Summer closure will be until September 2, when regular activity will make it return. There will be Bowls on Monday, Darts and Go for life on Tuesday, Walk on Wednesday, Art on Thursday, Irish Class on Friday.
September 16 to 20 will see the autumn break in the Quality Hotel, Youghal for four nights, with dinner, bed and breakfast, entertainment each night and trips out each day.
Cost is €300 per person sharing either double, twin or apartment and a single room supplement is €80, while there's a non-refundable deposit of €50 to book a place.
Note that the last day for payment is August 30.
On October 16 there will be a South East Region ten pin Bowling Fun Day at Leisure Max Wexford, starting at 10.30 a.m. If interested, talk to Frances or Ann.

Non-members are very welcome to check out activities by dropping into the Loch Garman Arms as there is some activity on most days of the week.
National Heritage Week will take place in Gorey until August 25 and Gorey Library will have events throughout the week.
A memoir from Barra Boydell entitled 'Rebellious Ferment' will delve into music and artistry in Ireland in the early 1940s and it takes place on Tuesday, August 20, at 7 p.m.
On Thursday, August 22, at 7 p.m. there will be a design discussion with artist Réiltín Murphy about books and book binding.
There will also be children's events.
Puppet Show in Courtown
A Puppet Show will take place every Sunday throughout August at Courtown Funpark in Courtown Harbour.
This free family entertainment runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and all are welcome to attend and join in the fun.
RNLI shop in Courtown
Shop for gifts that help save lives at sea as the RNLI lifeboat shop on the North Pier in Courtown has lots of new arrivals of souvenirs, clothing and gifts to suit any occasion.
The shop is open daily from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. throughout August.
GROW, Ireland's largest community-based mental health organisation, will hold meetings weekly on Mondays at 10 a.m. at the Loch Garman Arms Hotel and Thursdays at 10 a.m. at Tesco Extra Store, Ramstown, Gorey.
All are welcome to come along for free, to discover personal growth, prevention and full recovery from all kinds of mental illness.

Mary Fitzgerald award
Organisers of the new student award for leadership would greatly appreciate any support from the community.
The award aims to raise €1,000 for a single educational bursary to be awarded to an individual who has shown great promise in leadership, while also holding ambitions to continue their education post Leaving Certificate or LCA.
Mikel Murfi's one man show 'The Man in The Woman's Shoes' comes to Gorey Little Theatre on Saturday, September 28, at 8 p.m.
It will be fundraiser for our Gorey Oscarz campaign in aid of St Aidan's Services in Gorey, so not only is it a chance to see this show that is currently on an Irish tour but it raises funds for the cause at the same time.

Never Give Up race
Organiser of the Never Give Up 5km and 10km run Chris Proby from Inch would like to thank all who donated to the cause. The final count saw that €19,000 was raised for the Irish Cancer Society.
Sue Ryder donations
The Sue Ryder shop in Gorey is open weekly from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is currently accepting donations of clothing, small furniture and bric-á-brac, etc.
There is still time to join North Wexford Historical Society over two days from September 7 to 8 as they take off around Ireland and Northern Ireland, departing from Gorey Library at 8 a.m.
The first site to be visited will be the Navan Fort, Armagh, followed by a guided bus tour of Belfast City.
After check-in to the Maldron Hotel within the walls of Derry City, dinner will be served.
The following morning there will be a guided tour of Derry, including the Siege Museum.
Lunch will follow in the Ulster American Folk Park.
Before arriving back to Gorey at 9 p.m., there will be dinner at the Ashbourne in Meath.
The cost is €175 per person, which includes bus, hotel, breakfast and dinner on Saturday and all admissions.
Lunches, tea/coffee and Sunday's dinner are not included.
The tour is open to society members.

Gorey Little Theatre will host a gala night with the stars as part of a fundraiser for St Aidan's Day Care Centre. More information to come.
The event will take place on August 30, starting at 8 p.m.
Community day out
The first annual community family day out will be hosted by Ardamine Riverchapel Courtown Development Group and will see a trip to Clara Lara Fun Park on Saturday, August 31, and is open to the whole family.
The cost is €70 for a family of four or €20 per person, €10 per child under four or pensioners/carers.
Those interested must have their money paid in full by August 23.
The price includes transport, entry to the fun park and a barbecue on the day.

Throughout the summer, events of all kinds have been organised for the Gorey Oscarz, which will take place on Saturday, November 16, at the Amber Springs Hotel.
The films are 'Calendar Girls', 'The Silence of the Lambs', 'The First Wives Club', 'The Snapper', 'Father Ted'. 'Sister Act' and 'The Shawshank Redemption'.
Rehearsals begin next month.
