Children have been enjoying taking part in a free community holiday bible camp this summer, that is currently taking place from Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and runs until August 9 in Riverchapel Community Hall.

Children have been taking part in crafts, stories, games, quizzes, prizes and singing for all boys and girls aged five and over.

'The camp is for free and we want the children to have good fun and have something to do over the summertime. We play games outside and throughout the week the young people receive points for doing well in the quizzes, good behaviour and being kind and by the end of the week then they can spend their points on toys in the shop,' said Matthew Shanks of Gorey Christian Assembly.

'We like them to learn some more about the Bible, and it helps with their religious curriculum in school. These camps having been running in Riverchapel since the 1970s and it has been popular so far this year, we have gotten good feedback but we still have plenty of room for more children,' he said.

The camp is run by leaders that are based locally in Gorey and Riverchapel as well as those who have travelled across Ireland.

The camp is free of charge and for more information, Matthew Shanks can be contacted on 083 1270026.
