Guests were decked out in their finery for the annual Garda Blue Light Ball which took place in the Talbot Hotel over the weekend.

The hugely popular event was almost a sell-out this year as people from across the county came together for one of the biggest social events of the season. Guests enjoyed a champagne reception and gala dinner before Simon Casey and his band got the crowds on their feet for a night of music and dancing.

'It was a super night,' said committee member Garda Matt Kelly. 'The entertainment was great, the food was excellent; everything went really really well.'

The Garda Ball was organised in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare. Though the total amount raised has yet to be determined, Garda Kelly said that they expect to exceed last year's total.

Last year's event collected a record €4,400 for Wexford Hospice Homecare. Owing to its success, the date for the 2016 event was announced soon after.
