Concerns over garda cover in Clonroche

CLLR Denis Kennedy raised concerns regarding policing levels in the Clonroche area at a recent meeting of County Wexford's Joint Policing Committee.

At the meeting Cllr Kennedy said that Clonroche was a 'massive area' and that the station there had recently lost a Sergeant and a Garda. He asked Chief Supt John Roche if there was any intention of replacing personnel there and said it was a 'major concern' for the people of the community.

In reply the Chief Supt said that it had been 'a shock' that the Sergeant in Clonroche had retired and said 'we will be putting a Garda in there in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully we'll be able to put in another Sergeant at some stage in the future.'
