Staff at Boots on Gorey's Main Street took part in this year's 5K Boots Night Walk and raised €1,485 for Irish Cancer Society night nursing service.

More than 45 people gathered in Gorey Town Park on Thursday evening to do the charity walk. It was one of several that was organised around the country to raise funds for the night nursing programme.

Imelda O'Connor from Boots Gorey said they were very happy with the money they took in and are already looking forward to next year's event.

'It went really well, and we are very thankful to those who supported us and donated,' she added.

The walk was to remember those who either passed away, are being treated or survived cancer. Leading up to the event, many wrote down a persons name on a Honour Card who they wanted to remember during the walk. This was placed on a wall of remembrance at Gorey Town Park.
