Wexford artist David Daly will premiere a new selection of his paintings during the fourth annual Write By The Sea Literary Festival in Kilmore Quay on the last weekend in September.

A keen ornithologist and conservationist, Daly strongly feels Wexford's hidden bird habitats deserve to be cherished and preserved.

'No matter where you travel, be it to Portugal or the estuaries of the Wexford coastline, you cannot fail to marvel at both the range and beauty of these habitats, and Kilmore Quay is no exception,' he said.

Festival chairperson Lucy Moore said that as the theme of this year's event is 'Drawn to the Sea', Daly's delightful watercolours of birdlife and other marine life will make a wonderful addition to a programme that already includes renowned authors Mike McCormack, Sinead Gleeson, Dermot Bolger, Sara Baume, Paula Meehan and Kit de Waal.

Daly has hosted his annual watercolour exhibition at the Pumphouse, Wexford Wildfowl Reserve, Ardcavan for over 20 years as part of the Wexford Opera Festival programme, and will do so again this year. He is a member of the Water Colour Society of Ireland and has illustrated several books, including 'The Complete Garden Bird Book' and 'Wild Dublin'. He has also been invited to paint in several locations outside Ireland, including Israel, Portugal and Spain.

The Write By The Sea 2019 committee are grateful to their sponsors as well as The Arts Council and RTÉ Supporting The Arts for their invaluable support.

The Write by the Sea Festival will take place in the Stella Maris Centre.
