Coolgreany: Gymkhana - The annual Johnstown Coolgreany Gymkhana and Field Day will be held in Coolgreany on Sunday, July 7, in Coolgreany, and plans are advancing favourably for that day, this is always a very worth - while with some lovely Trophies and Cups to be won in all of the different horse and pony events, and also some great jumping in all of the Children's jumping classes.
In conjunction with the Gymkhana there will be a Monster Raffle, with tickets on sale at present. The prize money here is first prize of €500, second prize of €200, and three other prizes of €100 each. Tickets are €2 each or book of three tickets is €5. Draw will take place on day of Gymkhana. All proceeds will go to St David's Church Funds. Everyone welcome.
It is that time of year again when adjudication of the Tidy Towns Competition is about to begin, and the local committee are appealing for the support of as many as possible to help with the cleaning up of all the roads around the village and in the village itself to help improve the area.
The local barbecue will be held on Saturday, June 22, on the Main Street opposite O'Rafferty's Pub, which is usually a very enjoyable night.
On the night there will be a Book Stall Sale where a very large variety of Books will be on sale which may be of great interest to many people, so why not come along and enjoy some nice food and get some good value in reading material.
A meeting of Coolgreany Vintage Club Members will take place in the Coolgreany Inn on this Wednesday at 8.30 p.m., to start preparations for our vintage day on September 8.

Pride of Place awards
Craanford is honoured to be nominated by Wexford County Council in this year's Pride of Place awards 2019. Co-operation Ireland, the local authority partners Wexford County Council and its headline sponsor IPB Insurance is proud to present the prestigious Pride of Place Competition for the 17th consecutive year. The purpose of the competition is to acknowledge the work being done every day by communities all over the island of Ireland. The competition is based on communities demonstrating directly to the judges their pride in their place by oral presentation, exhibitions of community activities and culture and a tour of the area highlighting the aspects of which they are particularly proud. Our adjudication will take place on July 24.
It takes a village
Margaret Hawkins, who writes the 'It takes a village' feature in the Farmers Journal visited Craanford recently to come and see what our small rural community has achieved with the support of so many. Many thanks to all those who helped out in anyway prior to and during the event.

GAA Club notes
No jackpot winner in the lotto on June 4. There were three match-three winners. Next draw is on the 17th for a jackpot of €7,400. The numbers were 5, 12, 18 and 23.
The first Hurling team drew with Craanford but the second footballers beat them a few days later. But team of the week goes to the under-14 A girls' football who beat St Martin's 4-4 to 0-3.
A testing week for the second hurlers, who play Oulart on Monday the 10th in the Rock and Naomh Eanna in Gorey on Wednesday the 12th at 7.30 p.m. That after their good win over Kilmore two weeks ago.
The first hurlers play Rathnure in the Rock on Saturday the 15th at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the senior footballers will have played St Anne's in Kilanerin on Sunday the ninth at 11.30 a.m. R5 of the league.
