Coolgreany: St Patrick's Day parade - March 17 will see the 11th Coolgreany St Patrick's Day parade take to the street. The parade will start at 12.30 and entrants are asked to meet in the Lower Street, Coolgreany from midnight the early start is as usual to accommodate other local parade timetables. Every year so far has been a great success and a fun day for all.

We hope that local business people, voluntary organisations and clubs will go all out again this year to continue that success. There are six categories this year. Best float. Best vintage display. Best vintage vehicle. Best marching entry, most original. Best children's entry and best overall. We hope everyone will come out and support us on the big day. All enquiries to Jack at 086 8517618.

45 Card Drive

A very successful 45 Card Drive is ongoing in the Coolgreany Inn on each Friday night at 8.30 p.m., everyone is very welcome to come along for a good night of craic at the cards, and some lovely finger food thrown in for good measure. So please join us if you enjoy a game of 45.

Blotto results

There was no jackpot winner in the Ballygarrett Réalt na Mara GAA Club blotto draw on February 25. The numbers picked were 3, 15, 20 and 23. The €20 lucky-dip winners were Paul Blackmore, Kilmuckridge; Samantha Tomkins, Curratubbin; Jessica O'Connell c/o Shipyard; Cathal and Clodagh c/o post office; S & O. Coffee morning thanks

Blathnaid Kenny would like to thank all those who donated, baked and helped out at her coffee morning and bake sale. Your support was greatly appreciated. A total of €1,501 was raised for the Irish Children's Pilgrimage Trust Trip to Lourdes.

Parent/Toddler Group

Craanford parent and toddler group will next meet on Thursday, March 13, where they will host the Craanford first Responders. For further info please call 087 610364.

Run with Ray

'Run with Ray' will take place on Sunday, May 26; this is a great event for all ages. It's always a great community day.

A few weeks preparation will make all the difference on the day, stretch before and after excercise, start off gently and build up gradually alternating between walking and running but most of all enjoy.


Bingo will be held Craanford Hall every Friday night at 8.30 p.m.


On Friday, February 22, the prize of €158 was won by Nevaeh Kilty, whose entry was purchased in St Patrick's National School. Congratulations, Nevaeh. Thanks to new members who have recently joined our split-the-pot teams. Please set up a system of communication with each other and arrange for appropriate cover on your night (occurring once every eight weeks). Internet safety talk

Coláiste Bhríde parents' association will host an internet safety talk in the school on Tuesday, March 5, at 8 p.m. This is a free talk for all parents of teenagers, by Juvenile Liaison Officer, Garda Kevin Fahy on Social Media and Internet Safety for teens.

Pilgrimage to Lourdes - The annual Ferns Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from May 11 to May 16. Application forms for places on the regular pilgrimage are available at the back of the church. Should you wish to travel with the assisted pilgrims you can obtain an application form from Fr Richard or Fr Felix. Completed application forms for the Assisted Pilgrims must be returned by March 1.

GAA club news

There was no jackpot winner in the recent lotto draw. The numbers were 2, 3, 9 and 17. There were eight match-three winners, so the jackpot was almost won. The next draw takes place in Noel's on Monday the 11th with a jackpot of €6,700.

Planning permission has been granted for phase three of the club grounds development ie the construction of extra dressing rooms and kitchen. This development will take place in 2020 when funds have been identified and after the floodlights and other facilities have been paid for in full. A big thank you to the officers and others who have been involved in these community facilities.

Well done to the ladies' footballers who defeated St Martin's last week. Some age groups have started their games, especially the girls' teams. The adult footballers start their league games on Saturday the 9th (v Shels in Kilanerin at 3 p.m.) and Sunday the 10th the second team are in St Martin's at 11 a.m. Also on Sunday the 10th at 11 a.m., the under-17 boys host Sarsfields.

Kilanerin NS enrolment for junior infants is open till March 31. Pilates continues in Shamrock Hall Kilanerin on Tuesday evenings 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. all age groups welcome. Cost is €6 per class

Kilanerin Men's Shed is in the early stages and are looking for any unwanted hand and or power tools that might be useful to the group If there are any pieces in the shed taking up space please contact Dave at 087 4191947 and he can arrange for collection.
