Bree-Galbally: Clonmore Church Fundraiser - Clonmore Church hold a fundraiser at Michael and Julie Finn's Ballybrennan House, Bree (Y21RF67) on Sunday, July 7, from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Raffle, plant stall, cake stall, bottle stall and plenty more. Tea served €3.

Celtic Roots 'Full Irish'

A full Irish show in association with Celtic Roots will begin in Bree Hall on Tuesday, July 2. Tea and scones are served at half eight and the night's entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. Admission is 10 for adults with concessions for children and groups. Bree Vintage Club

Bree Vintage Club will host a tractor run on July 21 This year's run will be in aid of Relay for Life, Wexford. Registration begins from 11.30 a.m. with the run leaving at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend and support.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in the recent GAA lotto were 7, 11, 14 and 28. There was no jackpot winner. Match-three winners were Donal Walsh, Josie Hennessy, Shane Dawson, Liam and Kay McKelvie, Ciaran Hughes, Larry Parle, Shane Doyle, Ena Doyle, PJ Doyle, Johnny Asple (Snr), Tony Hennebry, John Murphy and Barry Furlong. The next jackpot is €2,600 with the draw on July 10.

Tailteann Games Gold

Congratulations to Darra Casey on winning a gold medal at the Tailteann Games which were held in Santry recently. Well done also to those who competed in the Mr Oil County B Championships in Enniscorthy Hub. Under-12 Oisin McCarthy first 60m and LJ, under-11 Sam Devereux third 300m, under-10 Cillian McCarthy first 60m, second Turbo Jav under-nine Fred Devereux first 300m.


Reserve Saturday, August 24, for the annual Barndance in Byrne's of Bree Grainstore with 'The Kilkennys', followed by DJ till late. Enjoy a good night out. Tickets are now available on 'Eventbrite Bree Barndance 2019' at reduced rate of €15 for a limited period

Scoil Eoin Baiste

Well done to the children who were on South East Radio on Tuesday, June 25, as part of the diocese of Ferns Christian Media Trust. Congratulations to the Boys Rounders team who made it through to the Group B final of Cluiche Corr 2019. The Junior Room enjoyed a tour to Hook Head Lighthouse followed by fun in Leisure Max, Wexford. The Senior Room headed to Dunmore East Adventure Centre, followed by 'An Epic Viking Tour'. There was also time for some shopping and a visit to McDonald's.

The children enjoyed a fun filled sports day, on Tuesday, June 18, which involved numerous team activity stations, running events and of course the big staff/parents V's the children Rounders game. Some fantastic home runs were scored. The children were subsequently presented with awards and certificates for their efforts for sports day, along with certificates for writing, attendance and Principal Awards for both the junior and Senior Rooms. The school celebrated Corpus Christi Mass, followed by a procession on Sunday, June 23.Well done to the Second Class children who were involved in the celebration. We would like to take this opportunity to wish our Sixth Class good luck in secondary school and we look forward to welcoming our new junior infants to Scoil Eoin Baiste. Finally we wish all our pupils a happy and safe holiday.

Scoil Mhuire NS

The staff and pupils of Ballyhogue NS would like to say a big thank you to everyone in the community who supported us this year. Also thank you to Fr Caulfield for all his help and support. We wish the sixth class pupils the very best as they begin secondary school.

Duffry lotto

There was no winner of the Duffry lotto last week. Aideen Howlin was the only match-three winner. The numbers drawn were 9, 23, 24 and 28. The next draw will take place in Rackard's of Caim on Tuesday, July 2, at 9.30 p.m.

Vintage Rally

Caim annual Vintage Rally and Road Run will take place in Caim on Sunday, September 8.


Duffry Rovers GAA Club are holding a 20km mountain walk on Saturday, August 10. The walk will begin in Drummond, Co. Carlow and will end in Kiltealy village. Teams will be made up five members, male and female. Participants must be over 18 years of age and should have a moderate level of fitness. Over the next few weeks the groups will be holding a number of events. The first event will be a table quiz in the Holy Grail, Ballindaggin on Friday night, July 5, at 9.30 p.m.

Duffry Rovers camogie club

The club would like to thank all who supported the tractor run fundraiser on Sunday. Despite the rain, a good turnout was had. A special thank you goes to the organisers, the tractor drivers, the sponsors of the prizes, Mary and Philip Bowe of the Thatch, Ollie, Elaine and Carmel on the barbecue and those who sold lines for the draws.

Duffry Rovers fundraiser

Duffry Rovers GAA Club will hold a fundraiser with a difference on Saturday morning, August 10, A 20K cross border mountain walk starting in Drummond, Co. Carlow and ending in Kiltealy Village in the afternoon. Teams of five members male and female over 18 years with moderate fitness levels. Over the next month each group will be running a number of events throughout the parish including a table quiz on Friday, July 5, in the Holy Grail at 9.30 p.m. teams of four. Sponsorship cards for the mountain walk are available from Eugene at 087 2492771.


Deepest sympathy is extended to the sons, daughters and extended family of the late Annie (Nancy) Redmond, Ballinlug, Killanne, who passed away on Friday, June 21, in the loving care of the staff in the Elm Ward, St John's Community Hospital.

There was a large attendance at her funeral Mass is Kiltealy Church on Monday last week after which burial took place in Kiltealy cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Ballindaggin Development Group

MUGA pitch opening

Kiltealy Development Group will celebrate opening of MUGA pitch with a five a side soccer tournament and Brunch in the hall.

The five a side soccer tournament will be on the new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) in Kiltealy Park on Sunday, July 14, 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m., €25 per team.

It will be open to all over-16s and teams can be all male, all female or mixed. Contact James Quirke for details at 087 6899749.

Brunch, desert, tea or coffee in the hall afterwards, admission adults €12 children free. Tickets on sale at Bowe's shop and the Mill.

Please support this fantastic addition to our village. All proceeds go to Kiltealy Community Development.

The Ballagh


The annual patron and blessing of graves, followed by the usual field day will take place in the Ballagh on the first Sunday of July (7th), beginning with prayers in the cemetery at 2 p.m., followed immediately by the field day in the church grounds. Raffle tickets have been circulated and should be returned in the coming week.

As always, your support for this annual fundraiser is greatly appreciated and the money raised are vital to the upkeep and maintenance of the church and cemetery. Setting up will begin early Sunday morning and anyone free to help with tables, chairs, bottles, etc should arrive at 9 a.m.

The organisers are looking for items for the 'Home Produce' stall such as homemade breads, jams, tarts, chutneys, etc. These items can be handed in before or after Mass on Saturday or Sunday along with bottles for the bottle stall. Sandwiches for the Tea Stall will be made on Sunday morning at 9.45 a.m. in the community centre, all help welcome. Donations of buns for the tea stall can also be dropped to the community centre before and after Mass on Sunday morning. Your support is much needed and appreciated.


The sympathy of the community is extended to Mary and Paidh Doyle and family on the death of Mary's aunt Bridget (Bridie) Howlin (née Donohoe), 'Forest View', Ballinacoola, Curracloe which occurred on Wednesday, June 26. Burial took place on Friday, June 28, after Funeral Mass in Curracloe. The late Mrs Howlin is mourned by her nephews, nieces, sister-in-law, extended family, other relatives and friends. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá hanam.

Ballaghkeene NS

Congratulations to the pupils and staff of Ballaghkeene National School on winning Ireland's 'Water School of the Year' and a prize of €2,000. Their 14 person committee from second to fifth class worked with teachers to implement their Green School initiatives. The work has resulted in the school and pupils' families saving water. The competition was sponsored by Irish Water.

Model County Draw

Oulart-The Ballagh had two winners in the June Draw. Congratulations to Darren and Adam Nolan, who won the 12th prize of a Midlands Park Hotel Holiday Voucher valued at €250 and to Michael and Geraldine Doyle who (HJ1) won the 21st prize of a Sam McCauley Chemist Voucher valued at €250.

Club lotto

The numbers drawn on June 24 were 7, 8, 27 and 28 the Bonus number was 10. The prize-fund stands at €13,200. There was no jackpot winner. The lucky-dip winners of €30 each were Tom Boland, Edel and Dan Nolan, Jim Doran, Garry Phillips and Mary Graham. The next draw will be held on July 1. Joan and Friends

Joan Kavanagh and friends are organising a Charity Fun Run/Walk/Jog to be held on Sunday, July 14, at 4 p.m. in Oulart. It will start outside Oulart Hill Bar and the entry fee is €10 for adults and €2 for children. Proceeds will go towards the Cardiac Unit Wexford Hospital.
