Boolavogue: National Vintage Rally - The Pat the Chap Vintage society are hosting the all-Ireland National Vintage Day on Sunday, September 1, in Ballyedmond.
As well as live music from Teresa and the Stars, there will be food and drink stalls, a bouncy castle, exhibitions of butter and basket making, demonstrations of weaving and spinning and the Shockwaves pro championship tractor pulling competition.
If that wasn't enough, a vintage threshing will be re-enacted, there will be displays of vintage vehicles including tractors, cars, motorbikes and commercial vehicles. Congratulations to Caitríona Whelan, Ballyorley, daughter of Billy and Ann, who married William Barry, Cork, in St Cormac's church on Saturday, August 10. The very enjoyable wedding reception was held in the Riverbank hotel and all in Boolavogue wish the happy couple a long, healthy happy life together.
This season St Cormac's 'A' squad will be competing in Division 1 with the 'B' team in Division 4a. The men's team took on Killenagh recently in a friendly and Jack White had them 1-0 ahead early in play. Killenagh fought back and managed to draw level near the interval and pulled a goal ahead early in the second half. Mark Brady had us back level soon afterwards and then Brendan Burke put our lads back in the lead, 4-3 and this was how the game ended.
The combined 'A' and 'B' squads went on to play Curracloe on Wednesday last, the 14th, and came home a goal down, 4-5 after a thrilling game.
You are asked to please support the club's raffle for two tickets to the Manchester United Vs Brighton Premiership game on Saturday, November 9. The fabulous prize includes the two match tickets, two nights' accomodation and coach and ferry travel to and from the game. Tickets for the draw, which takes place in the Harrow on Wednesday, October 9, at 8 p.m., only cost €10 and can be had from all club members. The club would really appreciate your generous support.
Coffee Evening/Open Garden
Don't forget that Leonie Meehan, a fuchsia expert from the Irish Fuchsia Nursery, will give a talk a the home of John and Margaret Earle, Cullentra, Monamolin, Eircode Y25 FT73 this Saturday, August 24. The Earle's garden will be open to visitors and coffee drinkers from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and there will also be a cake sale and a grand raffle in aid of Monamolin Parish. Afternoon tea or coffee along with some scrumptious confectionary will be served at the home of Kathleen Laffan, Clone West, Y25 X286, on Saturday, August 24, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. This fundraiser is in aid of Brighter Communities Worldwide - Kenya, a group Kathleen will be volunteering with in Kenya in the near future. Please come along, enjoy a cuppa and a chat and support a very worthy cause.
Ministers of the Word
On Saturday, August 24, at the Vigil Mass, Éinín Rossiter is due to read with Olive Burke helping distribute Communion. Gay Gahan is the reader at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning while Kathleen Kehoe is on duty as Minister for the Eucharist.
Mike Denver in Concert
On Thursday, August 22, Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club are hosting a concert by Mike Denver in the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey at 8.30 p.m. Tickets are €20 each and are on sale from committee members and players. It promises to be a great night for all ages and not to be missed.
George and June Hill, Ballydaniel, Camolin will host and 'open garden' event on Saturday, August 24, from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. Proceeds in aid of the upkeep of St Catherine's church, Camolin. There will be a cake sale, bric a brac, a raffle and refreshments served.
There will be a big breakfast in Carnew play ground on Sunday, August 25, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. with face painting, bouncy castle and more, admission is only €5, all welcome.
Askamore Mass times
As and from August 31/September 1 Mass times in Askamore will be on Sunday at 11 a.m., in Kilrush at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening and Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
Kilrush Parish Raffle
Kilrush parish are holding a parish raffle on Sunday, September 8, first prize €500, second €150, third case of wine, fourth hamper box of goodies, fifth Bean and Goose chocolate hamper, sixth bottle of brandy, seventh bottle of whiskey and lots more prizes, €5 per line or full card €50, all support welcome.

Garden County Country Fest
Carnew Heritage club are busy preparing for the annual Fest from September 13 to September 15 with the Teenage disco and carnival on Friday the 13th, gates open at eight till midnight, admission €15. Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th is Barry Kirwan, Lee Matthews, Derek Ryan, Take five, Teresa and the Stars, Adrian Ryan, dancing with Declan, Sunday is the usual heritage day with vintage, David Browne's, cars, stalls, games and much more, a weekend ticket is €30, and can be purchased from Classic Cut, Victor Young's, any of the Heritage committee or the GAA club.

September 1: Annagh Hill. Level B, 9km, 2.5 hours. Meet Tinahely 10.15 a.m. or the Gap 10.30 a.m.

There will be a Pop up Shop in the old Finesse Boutique on the Main Street in Carnew for the coming weeks, opening times on the door, items include sports wear, musical instruments, clothing, Brice a brac, furniture and lots more, all items must be sold so pop in and grab a bargain. Scoil Mochua, Oulart will re-open for all pupils on Wednesday, August 28, at 9 a.m. New applications for enrolment for the 2019/2020-year can still be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

Kathleen Laffan, Clone West (Y25 X286) will host Afternoon Tea in her home on Saturday, August 24, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. so as to raise funds for 'Brighter Communities Worldwide-Kenya' where she is going as a volunteer. Mike Denver in Concert
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will present the ever-popular Mike Denver in concert at the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey on Thursday, August 22. Doors will open at 7.30 p.m. and the concert will commence at 8.30 p.m. Tickets are priced at €20 and are available from players and committee and at the door on the night. This promises to be a superb event, not to be missed.
Heritage Week will take place from August 17 to August 25, and with 2,000 events taking place throughout the country, there is undoubtedly an event for everyone. Two local walks have been organised for Heritage Week.
On Saturday, August 24, The Unyoke Walk will start at the Trading Post Caravan and Camping Park at 10 a.m. and follow the 11km, moderate grade walk, to Oulart Hill. Walkers will be returned by car to the starting point. On the following day, Sunday, August 25, the Jean Kennedy Smith Walk, from Oulart Village to Oulart Hill will be held, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The walkers will be guided to the main monuments of Oulart - St Mochua's 1798 Chapel, the McGawley Memorial, the 1898 Monument, Mise Éire, Bygone Days Story House, the tree of Liberty and Tulach a' tSolais All are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club are organising a 'Clothes for Cash Collection' on August 26 and they are hoping that the local community will assist them by donating clean used clothes. Men's, women's and children's clothing, Paired shoes, handbags, belts, small quantities of curtains, towels, sheets, blankets and soft toys are all acceptable.To help with this fundraiser you are asked to drop off bags of clothes at the Upper Complex in Oulart on Saturday the 24th between 7.15 p.m. and 8.15 p.m. and on Sunday, August 25, 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. so that all bags will be ready for collection on Monday morning. The Ballagh Boxing Club
A Greyhound Night in aid of the Ballagh Boxing Club, will take place at the Enniscorthy Dog Track on Monday, August 26. The first race will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is €10 and children are free.
