Oulart

Bereavements

The sympathy of the community is extended to Pam Rossiter and family (Mark, Keith and David), Oulartwick on the death of her mother, Mrs Bridie Courtney, Ross Road, Enniscorthy, who passed to her eternal reward on Friday, January 24, at St John's Hospital, in her 98th year. She will be sadly missed by her sons Tony and Oliver, her daughters Marion, Phil, Pam, grand-children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Sincere condolences also to Jim Murphy (Dranagh, Boolavogue) and his daughters Jamie and Sarah on the sad passing of wife and mother, Ann (née Blackburn) on Sunday, January 26. She is also mourned and will be sadly missed by her sister Margaret Breen, her brother Liam, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her funeral Mass was held in St Patrick's Church, Oulart on Tuesday the 28th with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá hanam.

Oulart Garda Station

There is great disquiet in the local area, with the recent disclosure that Garda Darin Sane, who mans the local garda Station is leaving to take up a post in Rosslare and may not be replaced, leaving a vast area of rural Co. Wexford, from Oylegate to the coast, without a garda presence.

While we wish Garda Sane the best of luck in his new post and thank him for his help and efficiency while in Oulart, we deplore the down-grading of the area and call on local people to make their feelings known to the powers - that - be and especially to the candidates in the forthcoming general election.

Isn't the Oulart area as important as Stepaside? While Oulart had only a skeleton service, it was reassuring to the locals and a definite deterrent to the criminal fraternity. So we should demand the continuation of that service and the appointment of a garda dedicated to needs of the area.
