Ballycanew - Santa Visit: Ballycanew Lights Committee would like to announce the arrival of Santa on Sunday, December 9, at 6 p.m. for the big switch on of our new Christmas Tree. There will also be Stilt walkers, jugglers to entertain all before Santa arrives. Promises to be a great night. Come along and join in the festive atmosphere. Also Santa has left a Mailbox for the kids to post their Christmas letter on the night.

Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas craft fair/bazaar will be held in Ballycanew National School on Sunday, December 9, from three 5 p.m. The School choir will get you in the spirit of Christmas with some carol singing, There will be craft stalls, envelope raffle, face painting, cake sale, tea and coffee and much much more. There will be activities for the children to do. The Ballycanew Parents Assocaition would love you to come and join them in an evening of festive fun for all the family.

Ballyoughter Christmas Concert

The Ballyoughter Christmas Concert is on December 14 in Sacred Heart Church Ballyoughter. It promises to be a greats nights entertainment with the renowned Island of Ireland peace choir directed by Dr Phil Brennan, Local Sopranos Caroline Doyle and Laura Carroll. Gorey Ukes and the Ballyoughter School Choir. Tickets can be purchased from the school or on the door on the night Adults €10 and Children €5. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the School. All support greatly appreciated.

Ballyoughter Remembrance Tree

Ballyoughter parents' association Presents: our Remembrance Tree. Purchase a bauble to remember your loved ones this Christmas, baubles will be placed on the tree in Sacred Heart Church Ballyoughter. A special Remembrance Mass will be held in Ballyoughter on December 23 at 9.45 a.m. Refreshments served in the school afterwards. Baubles are available to purchase from Ballyoughter school, local businesses or by contacting 087 6345789. Cost of baubles is €2 each or three for €5. Your support is greatly appreciated and all proceeds go directly towards building an outdoor shelter for the school kids.

Ballygarrett

St Mary's NS Christmas Concert

This year, the pupils of St Mary's NS Ballygarrett are putting on a 'Variety Christmas Concert' on December 18 and 19 in Réalt na Mara GAA Complex. It promises to be a festive night full of the joys of the Christmas season with performances from all the classes.

Tickets are available from the school and on each night. All money raised are to help the playground development of the school. Starts at 7 p.m.

Killenagh Christmas Tree

Santa will be coming to O'Brien's pub on Sunday December 9, at 4 p.m. He's looking forward to meeting the boys and girls. All welcome.

Pub Quiz

There will be a pub quiz in aid of Ballygarrett Christmas Tree Fund at the Schooner Bar on Friday, December 7, at 9.30 p.m. Come and enjoy a fun quiz and a great night out. Cost is €3 per person. No restriction on team members per table. Raffle on the night.

A New Year's Eve party will be held in the Upton Court Hotel. Tickets €10 each inc. admission, finger food and a door price of a hotel breakaway. Live music by Theresa and the stars followed by DJ and late bar. Doors open at 9 p.m. and live music starts at 10 p.m.

Active Retirement Group

Kilmuckridge Active Retirement Group meets in the Upton Court Hotel every second Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., starting on Thursday, November 8, activities includes: Bingo, Cards, arts and crafts, annual Holiday, Chat, come along have a cup of tea and make new friends. The all-Ireland One Act Drama finals will run from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, December 9, inclusive, in the KMH the Drama Festival committee are very proud to be hosting such an event and the audiences and groups alike will benefit from its greatly enhanced, warm and comfortable facilities with improved theatre specifications. Mr Michael Stafford will perform the opening on Friday, December 7, and adjudicator for the festival is Imelda McDonagh. The Kilmuckridge Drama Festival Committee last hosted the One Act all-Ireland Festival in 1988.

Art exhibition

In conjuntionn with the all-Ireland One Act Drama Festival, there will be an ehibition 'Reminiscent', of work by three proficient Wexford Artists in the Upton Court Hotel on December 6 at 7 p.m. Opening and wine reception at 7 p.m. Guest speakers - Lisa Byrne and Michael Johnston. They have come together using their individual artistic styles to produce a body of work which reflects the drama of both life and nature.

Social Walking/Running Group

An open social walking/running group has commenced in Kilmuckridge. Meets will take place at 8.30 p.m. each Monday to Friday evening starting at St Joseph's NS for anyone who wishes to take part.

Anyone interested can join the informational What's App Group by contacting Yvonne O'Sullivan at 087 9555282 or otherwise simply turn up any evening that suits and join in. At least two members of the group will definitely be out each of the nights except for nights where a Red Warning has been issued for the area. This is a casual group set up to encourage people to get out and about with others in the community for some gentle exercise at a pace that suits each individual. Looking forward to meeting any new joiners.

There is a Charity Bingo night in the Crosses Kilmuckridge every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. Next Bingo on Thursday, November 29, is for Kilmuckridge Family Resource Centre. Jackpot €450. Free raffle.
