Ballycanew - Santa Visit: Ballycanew Lights Committee would like to announce the arrival of Santa on Sunday, December 9, at 6 p.m. for the big switch on of our new Christmas Tree.

Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas craft fair/bazaar will be held in Ballycanew National School on Sunday, December 9, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The School choir will get you in the spirit of Christmas with some carol singing, There will be craft stalls, envelope raffle, face painting, cake sale, tea and coffee and much much more.

There will be activities for the children to do. The Ballycanew Parents Assocaition would love you to come and join them in an evening of festive fun for all the family.

First Responders

Ballycanew Community First Responders would like to invite you to the first of our friends and family courses on November 27 at 7 p.m. in ballycanew church of Ireland hall. The idea is to offer CPR training to as many as possible. The class takes approximately 40 minutes and it's free. So come along and learn how to save a life. St Patrick's GAA lotto

Ballyoughter Christmas Concert

There will be a Christmas Concert on December 14 in Sacred Heart Church Ballyoughter. It promises to be a greats night's entertainment with the renowned Island of Ireland peace choir directed by Dr Phil Brennan, Local Sopranos Caroline Doyle and Laura Carroll. Gorey Ukes and the Ballyoughter School Choir. Tickets can be purchased from the school or on the door on the night Adults €10 and Children €5. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the School. All support greatly appreciated.

Pub Quizzes

There will be pub quizzes in aid of Ballygarrett Christmas Tree Fund at the Schooner Bar on Friday, November 30, and Friday, December 7, at 9.30 p.m. Come and enjoy a fun quiz and a great night out. Cost is €3 per person. No restriction on team members per table. Raffle on the night.

GAA club notes

Thank you to everyone who helped out, performed and attended our Stars in their Eyes fundraiser last Saturday. A great community night was had by all.

Congratulations to club members Paddy Keavey, Philip Redmond, Teegan Murphy and Andrew Smith, who are all sixth class students in St Mary's NS Ballygarrett. They have been awarded scholarships to Creagh CC based on their athletic ability and GAA involvement.

Blotto - There was no jackpot winner in the club blotto draw on November 19. The numbers picked were 8, 9, 13 and 15. The €20 lucky-dip winners were Mick Kinsella, c/o 19th; Gina Longley, Coolook Beg; Jaroslav Solar c/o Ambrose Maloneys; Harry and Kelly Smith; Jean Prendergast. The Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland wishes to thank everyone who gave so generously to their recent church gate collection in Kilmuckridge, amount collected and banked was €368-20, thanks to the collectors for all their time and help. All the money collected will stay in the branch to be used to benefit all the children and adults in the branch.

The all-Ireland One Act Drama finals will run from Friday, December 7, to Sunday, December 9, inclusive, in the KMH the Drama Festival committee are very proud to be hosting such an event and the audiences and groups alike will benefit from its greatly enhanced, warm and comfortable facilities with improved theatre specifications.

Mr Michael Stafford will perform the opening on Friday, December 7, and adjudicator for the festival is Imelda McDonagh. The Kilmuckridge Drama Festival Committee last hosted the One Act all-Ireland Festival in 1988.

Art exhibition

In conjunction with the all-Ireland One Act Drama Festival, there will be an ehibition 'Reminiscent', of work by three proficient Wexford Artists in the Upton Court Hotel on December 6 at 7 p.m. Opening and wine reception at 7 p.m. Guest speakers - Lisa Byrne and Michael Johnston. Reminiscent is a series of work featuring visual artists; Sheena Furlong, Paula Tate and Trish Middleton. They have come together using their individual artistic styles to produce a body of work which reflects the drama of both life and nature.

Active Retirement
Kilmuckridge Active Retirement Group meets in the Upton Court Hotel every second Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., starting on Thursday, November 8, activities includes: Bingo, Cards, arts and crafts, annual Holiday, Chat, come along have a cup of tea and make new friends. Social Walking/Running Group

An open social walking/running group has commenced in Kilmuckridge. Meets will take place at 8.30 p.m. each Monday to Friday evening starting at St Joseph's NS for anyone who wishes to take part. Anyone interested can join the informational What's App Group by contacting Yvonne O'Sullivan at 087 9555282 or otherwise simply turn up any evening that suits and join in. At least two members of the group will definitely be out each of the nights except for nights where a Red Warning has been issued for the area.

This is a casual group set up to encourage people to get out and about with others in the community for some gentle exercise at a pace that suits each individual. Looking forward to meeting any new joiners.

Bingo

There is a Charity Bingo night in the Crosses Kilmuckridge every Thursday at 8.30 p.m. Next Bingo on Thursday, November 29, is for Kilmuckridge Family Resource Centre. Jackpot €450. Free raffle.
