Ballycanew: Open Garden/Coffee Evening - An Open Garden and Coffee Evening, with a Garden Talk by Leonie Meehan from Irish Fuchsia Nursery, will take place at the home of John and Margaret Earle, Cullentra, Monamolin (eircode Y25 FT73).

On Saturday, August 24, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a plant, cake sale and Grand Raffle in aid of Monamolin Parish. Contact Margaret at 086 3176256.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to Saturday, July 27, winner of the split-the-pot, Shane Furlong, prize money was €230. Congratulations. Thanks to everyone for their continue support.

St Patrick's GAA lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot; winning numbers were 2, 15, 17 and 19. Nobody matched three numbers so €150 was donated to Ballycanew/Ballyoughter Development Association.

Cricket Camp

Cricket Leinster coaches will be at Gorey Cricket Club at Courtown Hibs FC on Wednesday, August 7, to provide a day of cricket coaching for girls and boys aged 7-16. Under-11s will play with softball from 10.30 to 12.30. Older children will play with a hardball from 1.15 to 3.15.

Tinnabearna Swim Week

The organisers of Swim Week 2019 would like to say a big thank you to all the children, parents and guardians who attended this year's very successful event. Special thanks to the instructors and helpers: Mary, Áine, Joanne, Conor, Aisling and Bethany. Also to Seán Doyle (Upton Court Hotel) Shay Hammel (Centra) councillor Mary Farrell and Billy McCreary. Certificates were presented to the children on Friday afternoon.

Tidy Towns news

GARDEN COMPETITION - Kilmuckridge Tidy Towns are organising a garden competition, there will be a prize for best garden in each estate and gardens in and around the village within the speed limit signs. Results will be announced in September.

CALENDAR - The Theme of our Tidy Town Calendar for 2020 is 'Pride of Our Village'. If you have any photos or information about any individual, groups, teams past and present who deserve to be honoured in this calendar please leave it in Bridie Hammels or drop into Iris in 'Honeylands' Ruanmore before Friday, July 12.

FURNITURE REVAMPING - Kilmuckridge Tidy Town Welcomes you to join Marianne from the Revamp Tramp for her poplar furniture revamping workshop in the KMH on August 18. The workshop is a full day 10 a.m. 4.30 p.m. You will leave the workshop with a fully finished piece of revamped furniture. All materials are provided on the day just bring your chosen piece of furniture. Tea or coffee and light refreshment will be provided please bring your reusable cup if you have one. Pat the Chap Vintage Club is proudly hosting the Irish Vintage Society all-Ireland National Vintage Rally on Sunday, September 1, in Ballyedmond. Main attraction is Tractor Pulling Shockwaves Pro Championship Competition. Vintage: Car Lorry Motorbike and Tractor Display. Theme on the day: one Cylinder and two Cylinder Tractors.
