Ballycanew - School news: Congratulations to all the fifth and sixth boys and girls who made their Confirmation last week in the Sacred Heart Church, Ballyoughter.

Scholastic Book Fair - A children's book fair will be held in Ballycanew NS from Monday, April 8, to Thursday, April 11, from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Commission from all the purchases will be used to purchase more books for the school library. Parents and members of the public are most welcome to attend as their support would be very much appreciated. Mobile book cases packed with the best books will be displayed in the school.

Enrolments - These are now being taking for new pupils for September 2019. Please call to the school office or call 053 9427496 for an enrolment pack.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to Saturday, March 9, winner of the split-the-pot was Winnie and Fiona, prize money was €222. Thanks to everyone for their continue support.

St Patrick's GAA lotto

There was no winner of last week's jackpot; winning numbers were 9, 13, 14 and 22. Three matched three numbers to each receive €50: Kevin Maguire, Jimmy Murphy, Mark Furlong.

Ballyougher NS

Enrolment now being taken for September 2019 for Ballyoughter National School. Expression of interest forms also available for September 2020 intake. Open Community Meeting

Following on from the Open Community Meeting in the Upton Court Hotel on Wednesday, February 20, an umbrella group called Kilmuckridge Community Renewal has been set up to represent the active voluntary groups in our community. These groups have their own particular and specific focus in working to develop and enhance the social, economic and physical aspects of the Kilmuckridge community. The aim and objective of Kilmuckridge Community Renewal is to strengthen the links between the many voluntary community groups in order that they can support each other to work and create a cohesive link in areas of common interest.

KCR will be carrying out surveys in a variety of ways with the residents of Kilmuckridge over the coming weeks. This will allow you the opportunity to offer meaningful opinions, comments and feedback on how we can strengthen our community into the future to ensure it remains an attractive place to work, live and visit. When the surveys come out we invite you get involved and let us know what you think.

Pat the Chap Vintage Club Ballyedmond are holding a Vintage Road Run on Sunday, March 24, starting from crosses car park Kilmuckridge leaving at 12.30..Proceeds to local charities.

Irish Pilgrimage Trust Bingo

There will be bingo in Oulart Community Centre at 8 p.m. on March 31 in aid of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust and Oulart GAA the funds raised for the IPT will go towards funding a week-long trip for nine young adults with additional needs from the South East region. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Social Walking/Running Group

An open social walking/running group has commenced in Kilmuckridge. Meets will take place at new time of 8 p.m. each Monday to Friday evening starting at St Joseph's NS for anyone who wishes to take part. Anyone interested can join the informational What's App Group by contacting Yvonne O'Sullivan at 087 9555282 or otherwise simply turn up any evening that suits and join in.

At least two members of the group will definitely be out each of the nights except for nights where a Red Warning has been issued for the area. This is a casual group set up to encourage people to get out and about with others in the community for some gentle exercise at a pace that suits each individual. Looking forward to meeting any new joiners.

Afterschool

Little Acorns are taking bookings for the afterschool club which will operate till 5.30 p.m. Pick up from St Joseph's Primary school at 1.40 p.m. and 2.40 p.m. by our childcare team. Subvention schemes available. Contact 053 9130393.

Senior Alert Scheme

Funding of personal alarm and pendant available for one year by registering for the scheme with Kilmuckridge Community and Family Resource Centre. Contact 053 9130393.

Men's Shed

The Kilmuckridge Men's Shed is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30 till 16.00. Call in any time during these hours have a coffee meet everyone and see some of the projects the group have made. For more information phone 053 9130393. Everyone welcome all age groups.

Foróige Information Meeting

Work is under way to reopen the Foróige Youth Club in Monamolin. An information meeting will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 8 p.m. in St Moling's Hall, Monamolin.

If you know a young person aged 12 or older who would benefit from being involved in Foróige or maybe you are an adult looking to get some experience working with young people, have a skill to share and believe you could be a positive role model to young people growing up in the area please come along to find out what Foróige is all about.

Daffodil day coffee morning
