Write By the Sea Literary Festival 2020, Kilmore Quay, invites all budding and established writers to enter its Writing Competition in any or all of three categories: Short Story, Memoir and Poetry.
Entries should reflect the theme 'Waves'. Category winners will receive €250 and the overall winner will receive €500. Winners will be invited to read at the Festival Opening on September 25 and the winning entries will be published on the festival website. A perfect reason to get the creative juices flowing during these restrictive times.

Sincere sympathy is extended from all in Boolavogue to Jimmy Flood, Ballycarrigeen on the death of his sister, Bridget (Bridie) Skelton, Ballintore, Ferns, who died after a short illness in Wexford Hospital on Tuesday last, April 21.
She is survived by her husband George, children Mary, George, Kathleen and Ellen, her brother Jimmy, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Áine, grandchildren Martina Michelle Mary-Elizabeth, Miriam and Thomas, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A family funeral took place on Thursday last, April 23, but a memorial Mass to celebrate Bridie's life will be held at a later date.

PARISH ENVELOPE COLLECTION - If parishioners are in a financial position to maintain their weekly envelope collection to their parish, provision is being made to do so electronically through the ferns.ie website. This initiative is hoped to become active on Sunday, April 26.
This system applies to the envelope collection which is for the upkeep of the parish, not the priest's own collection.
Simply go to ferns.ie, select your nominated parish (Caim, Kiltealy etc,) click on DONATE button.

Attention Dog Owners
There has been an increase in dog litter in the village of Clonegal recently. Clonegal Tidy Village Association asks dog owners to confine their dogs and not allow them to roam freely through the village. Also, dog owners who walk their dogs in the village are asked to pick up after their dogs.
Dog litter is toxic and is very dangerous particularly to children. In the interest of health and safety, please keep Clonegal Village dog litter-free.
