Askamore: Split-the-pot - Friday, March 1, winners of split-the-pot are John and Josie Kinsella, Drummond - winning €156. We thank everyone for supporting split-the-pot. Envelopes can be obtained from the School or any parent and from Ashling Walsh after weekend Mass in Askamore Church. Draws will take place every Friday morning in Ballyellis School.

Ballyellis NS enrolment

Gardening group

work on planting and painting has begun in Le Cheíle Park. Gardening is a fantastic hobby and a great way to enjoy the fresh air and meet up for a chat with friends old and new. New members are very welcome to join the gardening group. No knowledge of gardening needed. Ph. Jackie 086 2329865.

Finches Fitness

Rural Transport

The Local Link is a vital service to Gorey for people in the area. Bus runs twice weekly. Local Link accepts Free Travel Pass. Arrangements can be made to collect people from their own door or at designated points along the route. The bus driver is happy to drop everyone home and help carry their shopping to their front door.

Bus leaves Askamore Church car park Tuesday at 9.30 a.m. approximately arriving in Gorey 10 a.m. Bus departs Gorey at 12.30. Bus Departs on Saturday at 9.45 a.m. The cost is €3 each way if you are not eligible for free pass. Plenty of time to shop, meet friends and have a coffee. Kilrush-Askamore GAA

LOTTO - Congratulations to Peggy Byrne, who won our latest lotto jackpot, worth €3,600. This is the fourth time it's been won in the last few months. The lucky numbers were 10, 11, 12 and 14. Mary Walsh, Ger Kinsella, Brendan Hayden and Brídín O'Rourke won the Lucky Dips and Mary Tomkins won the Sellers' Prize. The next draw is in Coleman's, Tombrack, on Tuesday, March 5. The jackpot is €3,000 and the €2 tickets are widely available from players and members.

Drama Festival launch

The launch of the South Wicklow Drama Festival took place in Jim Byrne's Lounge on Thursday last, February 28, at 8.30 p.m. The festival was launched by Breda Hayes, Ballycogley Players, Director of the 2018 play, which won all-Ireland Confined Drama which was held in Carnew last year. Breda has the distinction of being the only Director to have directed two different winning all-Ireland Confined Drama Finals.

Present at the launch were representatives from Bunclody/Kilmyshall, Gorey, Kilrush, Tinahely and Ballycogley Drama Groups, a number of Festival Sponsors and patrons and the Festival Committee. SWDF chairman Eamonn Doran announced the line up of plays for the festival which should have wide appeal for all Drama lovers.

The festival will run from March 15 to March 23 in St Brigid's Hall, Carnew. Patron Tickets at just €45 (for all nine nights of drama) are available from Festival Commitee, Mark Kennedy in Halls Shop, Carnew, Candy's and Carnew Training and Development Centre.

Internet safety talk

Coláiste Bhríde parents' association will host an internet safety talk in the school on Tuesday, March 5, at 8 p.m. This is a free talk for all parents of teenagers, by Juvenile Liaison Officer, Garda Kevin Fahy on Social Media and Internet Safety for teens.

Social Walking/Running Group

An open social walking/running group has commenced in Kilmuckridge. Meets will take place at new time of 8 p.m. each Monday to Friday evening starting at St Joseph's NS for anyone who wishes to take part. Anyone interested can join the informational What's App Group by contacting Yvonne O'Sullivan at 087 9555282 or otherwise simply turn up any evening that suits and join in.

At least two members of the group will definitely be out each of the nights except for nights where a Red Warning has been issued for the area. This is a casual group set up to encourage people to get out and about with others in the community for some gentle exercise at a pace that suits each individual. Looking forward to meeting any new joiners.
