WHEN it comes to health, everyone wants the very best.

And one of the best ways to look good and feel good is to eat the right things and to put the right fuel into your body.

At Wexford's newest health food store, the family-owned and family-run Natural Health Store, on Main Street, Patrick Meehan and his sisters, Christine, Linda, Claire, all experts in their fields, are on hand to provide the right advice, products and supplements to keep your body running like a well-oiled clock.

'What you put into your body is the most important thing you can do,' said Christine.

'You have to keep your body in tip-top shape...optimum health is about good food and the right supplements if you need them at certain times.'

Patrick decided to open the business several months ago after he was made redundant by Only Natural last August after 17 years with the company.

'I didn't fancy sitting around doing nothing, and with the encouragement of family and friends we decided to set up our own business.'

The end result is a bright, spacious, uncluttered premises - nextdoor to Westgate Design - with room to expand and an ambience to match its ethos.

'I have been overwhelmed with the support we have received from the people of Wexford. It has been phenomenal,' said Patrick.

'The fact that we are a family run business makes a difference too,' he said.

The Meehans grew up in the family home in George's Street and have worked together for many years, most with Patrick at Only Natural.

'We are a very close-knit family, and very intuitive about each other,' said Christine.

The only sibling not working at the new store is Trudy, a clinical psychologist working in Grahamstown, in the Eastern Cape in South Africa.

'We might be able to persuade her to go back and open up here,' said Christine.

All the Meehan's are qualified in their fields and have years of hands on experience:

Christine as a nutritional therapist and in hair mineral analysis, Patrick and Linda have B Tech diplomas and certs and Claire has qualifications in Vega food intolerance testing and as a bach flower practitioner.

Patrick is planning to create two therapy rooms and to bring in local practitioners to offer natural remedies as well as developing a natural health care clinic.

Claire, a qualified nutrition and health coash, is already carrying out here Vega intolerance testing by appointment at the store.

'We're qualified to offer advice on supplements, diet, cosmetics, literally everything you need for your everyday life,' said Patrick.

The Natural Health Store has an extensive range of products on its shelves, ranging from dietary supplements, to Green household products; from gluten free foodstuffs to products new to Wexford, including Solaray and Solo nutrition.

There is also a wide range of 'free from' allergy care foods. Patrick is planning some information days and an official opening early in the spring.

Anyone who wants to find out more about what the store can offer and how it can help you achieve the best health, or to make an appointment for advice or treatment, should call the new store on (053) 9121613.
