Gorey Little Theatre will reopen to the public this month, albeit under strict Covid-19 restrictions, with a series of performances by some of the county's foremost musicians and songwriters.
The opening performance will be on Wednesday, August 12, and thereafter there will be an hour long entertainment performance every Wednesday and Friday, beginning at 8.30 p.m. each night, for the following four weeks.
The opening performance will be by internationally acclaimed uilleann piper, Mark Redmond.
Speaking about the upcoming shows, Senator Malcolm Byrne, from Gorey Little Theatre group, said: 'Artists and musicians are among those who have been worst affected by Covid-19 and it is more important now than ever that we support the arts and the vital role it plays in our community.'
Sen Byrne said the theatre has been in lockdown for several months and everyone involved is looking forward to it reopening its doors, albeit under limited conditions.
'Performances will be in line with strict Covid-19 guidelines and as a result there will only be about 80 tickets available for each night,' said Sen Byrne.
Tickets, which must be booked through www.goreytheatre.ie , are priced €11 inclusive of booking fee.
The full schedule of performances, under the banner 'An evening with...' for the remainder of August and into September is composed of: Mark Redmond - Wednesday, August 12; Aileen and Aine Kennedy - Friday, August 14; Nicky Bailey - Wednesday, August 19; Karen Dunbar - Friday, August 21; Conor McCarthy - Wednesday, August 26; Conor Moore - Friday, August 28; Deirdre Masterson, Kelli-Ann Masterson and David Wray - Wednesday, September 2; The Music of Leonard Cohen with Noel Collins - Friday, September 4.
