Ports cup replay has the makings of being a thriller
FAI Intermediate Cup
Portmarnock manager Willie O'Leary says he is pleased his side are still in the FAI Intermediate Cup, having come from behind to draw 2-2 away to Cork side Carrigaline United on Sunday.
Pointing out that the weather made the tie difficult for both sets of teams, O'Leary commented: 'The conditions were terrible and the pitch wasn't great, but that was for both teams.'
O'Leary had a lot of praise for his side who took the lead before going behind, only to score with 10 minutes remaining to secure a second bite at the cherry.
'The lads played well. I felt we dominated them in the second half and maybe we were unlucky not to score more.'
Ports will now welcome the Cork outfit to Paddy's Hill at a date to be determined and O'Leary is expecting another tough encounter.
'The pitch and the conditions will be much better when they travel up to Dublin and that will suit both teams,' he pointed out, speaking on Sunday night.
'It's going to be tough - there's a lot of work still left to do in this tie. They have some great players in their team, a lot of ex-Cork City lads, but we'll be confident at home and give it our best shot.'
