Kids on the ball!
BOYS and girls from the Swords area put their soccer skills to the test when they participated in a week long FAI Summer Soccer Camp.
The camp, run by Nick Pender, Soccer Development officer for Fingal, was held at Colaiste Choilm, where 120 children attended.
The camp was open to youngsters aged between six to 13 years where they learnt all disciplines of the game of soccer from team work, to shooting goals, passing and heading the ball.
They also participated in a number of matches throughout the week.
Each participant received a full soccer kit, a ball, a bag and a certificate of completion. The early bookers received two tickets to an international soccer game in Dublin.
'We had a great week with a great number of children attending,' Mick Pender told the Fingal Independent.
'It was great to see the numbers especially after they had just finished school so it is a great lead into an exciting summer,' he added.
Thirty of the participants received free places at the camp under the Schools Completion Programme, run by James Kavanagh, where the children were awarded for their good attendance, performance and behaviour at school. A second FAI Soccer Camp will take place at Swords Celtic from Monday, August 11th to Friday, August 16th.
