The club would like to wish all our members and supporters a happy and peaceful New Year and we look forward to 2013. Ashbourne start the new year with three senior fixtures this coming weekend. On Friday night our 3rd XV visit Ardee for an 8pm kickoff, and on Sunday we play host to table-toppers Tullow, the club of Sean O'Brien, for two games. The 2nd XV kick off at 1pm while the 1st XV follow on at 2.30. We hope to see as many there as possible for these important games. Ashbourne RFC will be hosting the three Women's Six Nations internationals in the New Year. The Ireland v England game has been confirmed for Saturday February 9th with a 2pm kick-off and the France match will be on a Friday night in March (date to be confirmed). The club has also been awarded a pre-championship game against Spain on Sunday January 20th, which will also be refereed by club referee Helen O'Reilly. This is a great achievement for the club and one we are proud of. Adult team training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm and is open to all newcomers. Come and join one of the most progressive clubs in the area! Look us up on www.ashbournerugby.ie. The club also has a strong team of referees, but if you have an interest in becoming involved in refereeing we would love to hear from you and will discuss the opportunities as well. Without referees there will be no rugby. Our Youths and Minis meet on Sundays at 11.30am and all are welcome at the club grounds. Following on a successful year last season there is a wide range of teams and our development programmes are geared towards developing all types of players. They are fielding all the way up to 17s and new members are always welcomed. Our underage girls rugby teams train on Wednesdays at 7pm. We are fielding at two age groups - Under-14 and Under-16 - and all new players are welcome. The club is delighted to have two girls selected for the Leinster Under-19 panel and we wish Ruth Moore and Deirdre Kennedy the best of luck in this adventure.
