Malahide's home comforts

This season's fixtures in the All-Ireland League were announced last week and Division 2B side Skerries will be on the road to Dungannon for their first game on Saturday September 29th.

The Goats' opening home match will be a floodlit affair the following Friday night, October 5th, against MU Barnhall, and the other teams they will face in 2B are Galway Corinthians, Belfast Harlequins, Rainey Old Boys, Sundays Well, Sligo and Greystones.

Malahide, who were in contention for promotion for most of last season, only to fall away, embark on their second year in the AIL Division 2C with a home fixture against Bangor on September 29th, and like Skerries they will face a considerable amount of travelling. The other teams in their division are Ballina, Omagh, City of Derry, Tullamore, Bruff, Thomond, Midleton and Seapoint.

Meanwhile, in the Leinster League, Ashbourne will begin the defence of their 1A title with a home game against Boyne on Saturday September 15th, and they will also be up against Dundalk, Bective Rangers, Kilkenny, Gorey, Wicklow and Enniscorthy.

In Division 2B of the Leinster League, Balbriggan start with a difficult fixture away to Athy on Sunday September 23rd, with Garda, Portarlington, Midland Warriors, Edenderry, Birr and Arklow also in their section.

Swords will again ply their trade in Division 3. They start on September 23rd away to Roscrea and will also face Ardee, Dublin Dogos, Clane, Athboy, North Meath and RCSI.
