Luckless North lose again as Skerries meet match
IT was a disappointing Saturday all round for the top local ladies teams in the Leinster League as both Dublin North and Skerries lost their latest matches.
In Division 2 Dublin North travelled to Three Rock Rovers with confidence, having picked up their first point since promotion in their previous outing.
From the start Dublin North produced nice link-up play between Brona Dunne and Sarah McIntosh, but despite keeping up the pressure the away team found the Rock keeper in imperious form. Indeed, by half-time Skerries trailed 1-0 after slick passing from the opposition forwards had created the opening.
Dublin North's fortunes didn't improve in the second half and what they felt were some questionable umpiring calls led to two further goals for Three Rock.
The visitors never gave up, with Lisa Walls dominant on the left and driving at the Three Rock defence - ultimately to no avail.
Dublin North were due to face Clontarf at home last night (Monday), hoping to end their record of not registering a goal from their opening six games.
There was a top-of-the-table clash in Division 4 on Saturday as Skerries hosted leaders Kilkenny, but the home side were on the wrong end of a 9-0 scoreline.
