Athletics, Lusk: a reminder that early-bird entry to our Lusk 4-Mile Road Race is still available until Sunday February 11th. The link to enter can be accessed through both our website and Facebook page. The race is at 3pm on Sunday March 4th and will be a huge event for the club. Please encourage friends, family and colleagues to sign up. There will also be children's races from 2pm and sign-up for those is on the day.
Assistance in a range of volunteering roles from club members will be required to make the event a success, so please help out where you can. Race entries are also available on line for the following races and club members are encouraged to enter: Feb 18th - Ras na hEireann cross-country; Feb 24th - Leinster Indoor Championships (Entry closes Feb 14th); Mar 25th - Dunboyne 4 mile; Apr 2nd - Leinster 10 mile, Raheny (many Lusk AC have already entered, so join us). Well done to Emma Jameson who took part in the BHAA 2-mile cross-country race in Phoenix Park on Saturday in a time of 25:10. That was the third of five races that Emma will be completing as part of the Lord Mayor's 5 alive challenge. Next in the series is the St Patrick's Festival 5k on March 18th.
Dylan Cody Foy was in action for the second time in seven days at the AAI games on Sunday. Dylan got off to a blistering start and registered a time of 7:41 in the 60m heats. Congratulations to new member Hazel Keegan who ran a great race in the Trim 10-mile race on Sunday. Hazel secured a PB with a time of 1:25:18. Best of luck to our Ultra Marathoners who will be taking part in the 50k National Championships at 10am on Saturday. They've been pounding the pavements of north County Dublin and beyond over the last few months to get the miles in to be ready for this challenge. The race takes place in the beautiful Donadea Forest in Co Kildare and consists of 10 laps of a 5k loop. Well done to all club members who participated in or volunteered at last weekend's parkruns. A large contingent made the short journey to Newbridge House to support Stephen Murtagh who reached the milestone 50 parkruns. There were also big Lusk AC numbers at the Rush junior.

The U-12 girls relay team missed out on a semi-final by a second. It was also a fabulous effort by the U-10 boys and girls who for the most part were competing for the first time and did the club very proud. The U-14 boys, U-14 girls and U-16 girls teams also ran their hearts out in some very fast 200m relay heats. Well done all.
The Ballyboughal GFC Gala Night will take place this Saturday in the CityNorth Hotel after what was a fantastic year on the pitch for both our mens and ladies teams. We will also honor the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Junior Championship winners and this should be a great night. Tickets, €40, are available from Michelle Wogan on 086-2258850. Join us for the third week of 'Ireland Lights Up' in partnership with Operation Transformation, meeting from 7.30 to 8.30pm at Ballyboughal GFC. A Valentine's Table Quiz for adults takes place in the clubhouse on Thursday February 15th from 8.30pm. A table of six costs €20. A Family Table Quiz is on Friday February 23rd at 7pm - €10 for a table of five. Please support these events that are taking place as part of our centenary celebrations. There was an 'Incorporating Athletic Development into training sessions' workshop in the clubhouse last Friday evening which was aimed at CCC1 and CCC2 boys and girls coaches. Well done to GPO Paul Lyons who as always conducted the course in a very professional manner, making it a valuable and enjoyable experience for the coaches taking part. Membership subscriptions for 2018 are now due. Payments can be made online under Club Membership on the homepage of the club website www.stfinians.com. Some minor changes have been made to membership categories and rates for 2018.
The club has introduced a family membership which would be the most cost-effective for most families. Membership can be paid over three months online. As a substantial element of the club's outlay comes at the start of the year, all memberships should be paid as soon as possible. All Ladies football members - or parents of Ladies football members - are requested to return their completed LGFA membership forms to the club office in an envelope - marked Fiona Cronin, Ladies Section - as soon as possible.
