St Margaret's hold off Man O War fightback
St Margaret's 0-18 Man O War 1-11
A tightly contested Joy Cup final at St Margarets on Saturday evening saw the home side secure a second trophy in the space of twelve months.
After their Under-21 success in Abbotstown at the end of last season, Margarets claimed another big win despite a strong second half rally from the visitors.
Margarets started well and were never headed in the game with Conor Hickey and Conor Sutton sharing scores as they took a three point lead into the half.
However, in a game that was noticeable for a high free count, both sides struggled for momentum in what was at times a stop-start albeit entertaining encounter.
Man O War were without the two Moores, Shane and Willie (both of whom have been key to their excellent league form that has seen them move to second in the division four table) and Conor Duffy, but were boosted by the introduction of Joe Greene who having come off the bench would hit 1-3 to bring his side back into the game.
However Margarets who although missing key forward, Brian Shananhan, would withstand late pressure from the visitors with Colm Barry again making a telling cameo off the bench with two points.
Best on on the day for Margarets were Jack Stynes, Scott Sheire, Kevin Dwwyer, Conor Hickey and and Conr Sutton.
