Fins ace catches the eye in challenge
Dublin 3-19 Dubs Stars 1-14
It was a good day at the office for the Fingal contingent who lined out for Jim Gavin's experimental Dublin side as they defeated a Dub Stars selection on the last Saturday before Christmas at the Naomh Barrog Grounds.
Heading the scoring for Dublin was Oisin Lynch who hit 2-3 on the day, with the Fingallians man striking up a good partnership with Conor McHugh in the inside line.
Lynch was one of three players from the north county region to make the scoresheet for Dublin as the Metropolitans raced into a 3-9 to 1-4 lead at the break.
Lynch linked up well with McHugh from the start and had registered two goals inside the first 20 minutes, while Cormac Howley (Round Towers Lusk) was another to feature prominently in midfield.
The Dub Stars selection managed a goal before the break through Micheal McCarthy (St Sylvester's) before McHugh chipped David Nestor at the other end to leave Dublin 11 points clear at the interval.
And with Jack Hazley proving a real handful at full forward, Dublin stretched their lead before the Stars came back into the game with five unanswered points - including two from Kevin McMamamon and Ger Brennan.
Dublin finished as they started, with late points from Lynch and Hazely ensuring a comfortable 11-point win in the end.
