Trial facing young men charged with using 'screwdriver' in theft

Two young men charged with robbing a person and producing a screwdriver during the course of the robbery are to face trial by judge and jury.

Ross Donnelly (20) of Abbeylea Avenue in Swords and Vlad Jukum (22) of Highfield Crescent in Swords were served with books of evidence at Swords District Court.

Judge Paula Murphy sent the pair forward to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for trial charged with theft of money from a person at Swords Towns Park on July 19. The pair are also charged with the production of a screwdriver during the course of a robbery on the same date in the same place.

After a State solicitor served the books of evidence on the accused, Judge Murphy made an order sending them forward for trial to Dublin Circuit Criminal court where they will face their next hearing on December 15 in Court 5 at the Criminal Courts of Justice.

She gave the alibi warning. The accused have not yet indicated how they will plead.

Legal aid was granted and two counsel were assigned to the accused's solicitors.
