The victorious Dublin Ladies All-Ireland football team received a rapturous homecoming last week as a huge crowd turned out in Malahide to congratulate the team.

All roads led to Bridgefield in the grounds of Malahide Castle as the history-making players received a great Fingal welcome.

With a huge Fingal contingent on the panel, led by captain Sinead Ahern, they were given a heroes welcome after their 12-point win over Mayo at Croke Park.

It was the second time that Dublin claimed the Brendan Martin Cup, their last victory occurring in 2010. Their win last week ended a run of three straight defeats in All-Ireland finals which all helped create a super atmosphere in Malahide.

Dublin team manager Mick Bohan told the crowd that 'if at first you don't succeed try, try, try and try again'.

MC for the evening was Derek Roche spoke with a number of the players who were roared on by a hugely enthusiastic crowd.
