Search to find Fingal's finest young entrepreneurs builds
The competition to find Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE) steps up a gear this week as county finals take place right across the country, while in Fingal, fifteen young entrepreneurial finalists have undergone intensive scrutiny by a panel of expert judges.
Fingal previously reported the highest level of applications in the country, with 114 qualifying applicants competing. These were short-listed to just five candidates in each of the three categories: Best Business Idea; Best Start-Up; and Best Established Business. To qualify, applicants had to be based in Fingal and between 18 and 35 years of age.
Oisin Geoghegan Head of Enterprise for Fingal explained: 'We had a huge response to the competition this year with an amazing array of business ideas and growing businesses. The calibre of young entrepreneurs is exceptional and the judges have a very tough job to select just one winner and one runner-up in each category.'
The Fingal IBYE Final will take place on this Thursday, November 30 in County Hall. The event will be hosted by the Entrepreneurs Academy's Noel Davidson and presentation of awards will be made by Mayor of Fingal, Cllr. Mary McCamley and Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid.
Paul Reid highlighted the value of the IBYE Competition: 'Local Authorities are very keen to ensure that we have a strong enterprise culture to enable local people to Start-up new businesses.
'This in turn helps ensure a sustainable stream of new employment opportunities. I am delighted that in Fingal we have a very entrepreneurial young population that are continually looking for ways to develop their business ideas.'
Category Winners will represent Fingal in the Dublin regional finals in January.
