All the effort will be worth it next month when the hardy rowers that took on the Celtic Challenge for Fingal Rowing Club hands over the money they raised for local causes and are give the welcome home and giant pat on the back they deserve after their epic journey.

The club saw Celtic Challenge as an opportunity, not only as a challenge and achievement for themselves as a club, but the opportunity to give back to the community.

The Celtic Challenge is the world's longest true rowing race. Rowing a distance of 90 nautical miles from Arklow to Aberystwyth on the Welsh coast. Fingal rowing club were very excited to be able to participate with all funds raised going 50/50 between Irish cancer society and Child Vision.

Each team doing the Celtic Challenge consisted of 12 people who take it in turns to row, there was three crews and each crew rowed for an hour on and two hours off for the duration of the challenge.

It was an extreme test of endurance and took 20 hours and 24 minutes to complete.

Well done to all the crews who took part.
