LAST COMMUNITY FORUM OF THE YEAR
BALBRIGGAN Community Policing Forum is preparing for its final public meeting of the year next Monday where the public will be invited to shape the organisation's future and set policies that will influence community safety in the town.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 19 at 7.30p.m. at the town hall in Balbriggan above the library and at the meeting, community representative elections will be held to elect local people to the forum. According to the forum: ' This is a very special, exciting and unique opportunity for people in the community of Balbriggan to take part in the shaping of policies, in relation to community safety, that will directly affect them, their children, their grandchildren and your community.
' The Balbriggan Community Policing Forum aims to directly address issues relating to crime, antisocial behaviour and safety that exist within our community. 'Community participation in this process is vital. Six seats have been reserved for community representatives on the Balbriggan Community Policing Forum board. Three of these seats are now up for election.' The elections will be run before the start of the public meeting. The public meeting will give the residents of Balbriggan and Balrothery an opportunity to come along and bring their issues of crime, disorder and anti- social behaviour to the appropriate authorities.
Public meetings are attended by An Garda Siochana, and the Fingal County Council and chaired by the Balbriggan Community Policing Forum. Free parking is available under the hotel/town hall and your ticket will be validated at the desk in the town hall after the meeting. Many people turned out at the last meeting in September and spoke out about the issues that are affecting them living peaceful lives in their neighbourhoods.
Action is taken on the issues that are brought up at the meetings and feedback is given by An Garda Siochana and the Fingal County Council at the follow on meeting. The Balbriggan Community Policing Forum is an independent body which aims to build community capacity, develop links and further enhance communication between the residents of Balbriggan, state agencies, local authority and An Garda Siochana.
