Pedestrian knocked down and killed in Rush
A pedestrian in his late 30s has become the second Fingal victim of a fatal road traffic incident in the last week.
Following the tragic death of Balbriggan's Fiona Geraghty in a bus crash in Dubai last Thursday, a pedestrian in his 30s has died on the road in Rush at the weekend.
Balbriggan gardaí are carrying out an investigation into the accident, which happened on the Whitestown Road in Rush at around 1pm on Friday.
The man was crossing the road when he was hit by a car, and sustained critical injuries.
He was removed to Beaumont Hospital with critical injuries but passed away this morning Sunday 9th June, 2019.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Investigating gardai at Balrbiggan Garda Station are now appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
It is understood the deceased man had been living just outside Rush and was an active member in Prosper Fingal.
No arrests have yet been made, and gardai in Balbriggan are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
It brings to 71 the number of people who have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year, compared with 60 in the same period last year.
