Brendan Ryan, Labour Party TD for Dublin Fingal has commended the new Sectored Community Policing model which is being rolled out in Balbriggan, Skerries, Lusk, Rush and Garristown.

He said that the initiative would enhance community engagement activities and assist in the provision of active crime prevention measures

Deputy Ryan said: ' It is great to see the role out of more community garda resources in these areas.

'Crime can be stopped at the root when a well-resourced and engaged community Garda service is on the beat.

'I was very impressed with Superintendent Tony Toomey's presentation at the Fingal Joint Policing Committee.

'As more resources become available they will be deployed into our communities.

'There has been a lot of concern regarding criminality including attacks all over Fingal in recent months.

'Increased community policing will help tackle people's concerns and worries and I support the further investment in this scheme.'
