Making the DART more accessible
Iarnród Eireann has launched a DART Accessibility Improvement Pilot Programme, aimed at making it easier for people who are mobility or visually impaired to travel on the DART and Malahide DART station will participate in the pilot.
This programme will see assistance for people with disabilities improved through the establishment of Station Zones, which will see full-time staffing of thirteen hub stations, including Malahide, for each zone across the DART network, each with a dedicated assistance phone line. Staff at each zone will respond to assistance requests for the hub station and between one and three other adjacent stations.
This is designed to reduce the notice period for those requiring assistance when travelling on the DART from 24 hours to four hours, and the company will continue to endeavour to provide assistance at all times if notice is not possible. The dedicated phone line for Malahide is 01 8286960 which will cover 'zone 13' stations which also include Portmarnock and Clongriffin.
