Lusk 'heartbroken' as local priest dies
Lusk is in mourning at loss of a popular local priest who died suddenly at the weekend.
Fr Eoin McCrystal came to the parish just over two years ago and made a huge impact on the community of Lusk in a short time.
Pat Kelly of Lusk Tidy Towns reflected the thoughts of locals saying that 'Lusk is heartbroken' at the sad news.
'A lovely, quiet, pleasant man,' is how Ms Kelly described Fr McCrystal. 'It has been such a shock to the whole community, everyone was so fond of him and we are all devastated,' she said.
Lusk Community Council joined in the tributes to the late priest, saying Fr McCrystal was 'a hugely positive force in our parish and he will be greatly missed by all'. Chairperson of the community council, Brian Arnold said that Fr McCrystal had made a big impact on the community in a short time and 'touched so many people's lives in a quiet and understated way'.
Lusk was not Fr McCrystal's only link to Fingal as his first appointment after ordination was as a teacher in St Finian's Community College in Swords. May he rest in peace.
