Grant aid for Protected Structures

Fingal County Council is inviting applications for small, medium or large scale repairs or conservation projects to Protected Structures and in certain circumstances to buildings that enhance Architectural Conservation Areas within the Fingal area.

The funding is available under three streams, namely the Architectural Heritage Fund, the Built Heritage Investment Scheme and the Historic Structures Fund.

Generally the amount of funding awarded cannot exceed 50% of the cost of works up to a maximum amount under each of the schemes so the cost of works will need to be double the amounts listed.

The Historic Structures Fund has two schemes, with one ranging from €15,000 to €50,000 in funding and one for larger works that starts at €50,000 and is capped at €200,000.

This is a new scheme that replaces the Structures at Risk Fund. The primary focus of this new scheme is the conservation and enhancement of historic structures and buildings for the benefit of communities and the public.

The Built Heritage Investment Scheme funds works from a minimum of €2,500 to a maximum of €15,000 and is a scheme to assist with the repair and conservation of Protected Structures, and in certain cases, works to structures within Architectural Conservation Areas.

The Architectural Heritage Fund is a smaller scheme with grants of €100 to €2,500 available. Fingal County Council operates the fund out of its own budget for minor repair and maintenance works or restoration of features to Protected Structures and historic buildings of merit in Architectural Conservation Areas.
