Garda station reopening to 'become reality'
The people of Rush will hope this it's not another false dawn but it appears Rush Garda Station will reopen after all, following a new recommendation from An Garda Síochana.
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, and member of the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, Alan Farrell has welcomed confirmation from the Acting Garda Commissioner Dónall Ó Cualáin that the reopening of Rush Garda station has been recommended by An Garda Síochána in a report provided to the Department of Justice, last week.
Deputy Farrell said: 'I am delighted with confirmation that An Garda Síochána have recommended the reopening of Rush Garda station in the report it has provided to the Department of Justice and Equality. Rush Garda station is one of six stations nationwide which have been recommended for reopening.'
He added: 'Following this recommendation, An Garda Síochána will have to liaise with the Office of Public Works in order to identify the remedial works necessary in the station building. This will allow for the time-frame and cost of reopening the station to be determined. In addition to this, an analysis will be undertaken to identify the required number of staff and vehicles for each station in addition to the ICT equipment and resources which will be necessary.'
Deputy Farrell concluded: 'Following the completion of these stages, I am pleased to say, the reopening of Rush Garda station will become a reality.'
