The cash available for people with disabilities in Fingal to adapt their homes to their needs is set to increase by some 23%.

Fingal TD, Alan Farrell has welcomed the announcement of housing adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability, with over €2.38 million being allocated to Fingal County Council.

He said: 'I am delighted that funding for these housing adaptation grants for Fingal County Council has increased by 23% from last year. Supporting more vulnerable members of our local communities must always remain a priority and I believe these housing adaptation grants are vital in achieving that.'

Senator James Reilly also welcomed the increased funding and said with Fingal County Council's own contribution, the funding pot for the grants would total almost €3 million for Fingal.

He said: 'This is all about improving quality of life for older people and people with disabilities. It is also about helping them to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. '
