Boland welcomes progress on school
Independent Fingal councillor Cathal Boland recently welcomed progress on the acquisition of the site for a new school building for St Joseph's Secondary School in Rush, adding he hoped 'no further delay is permitted.'
He said: 'I am pleased to note real progress on the acquisition of the site for the new school for St Joseph's Secondary School.
'I am advised that terms are now agreed, and the contract is now at convening stage.
'It is hoped that this will be completed by September next.
'This will open the door for the Department of Education to progress this important project to the next stage and appoint the design team.'
Cllr Boland said he was 'hopeful' that Senator James Reilly, Chairperson of the Board of Management of the school, will apply 'appropriate pressure' on his party colleague, Minister for Education and Skills Deputy Joe McHugh, to ensure that 'no further delay is permitted' to stall the building of 'this overdue educational facility.'
The new school building is long-awaited by the whole school community and the wider community it serves in the town of Rush and beyond.
