Balbriggan Meals on Wheels, is currently running a 'Monster Raffle' with a top prize of €500, in order to provide a minibus for its community based service.

It is hoped the 'Monster Raffle', along with fundraising and sponsorship, will help Balbriggan Meals on Wheels purchase a minibus to strengthen its service and maintain and expand its vital Dinner Club.

To that end, the charity will be selling Monster Raffle tickets on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16.

A minibus for the charity will allow it to better manage the transportation of clients to and from the Dinner Club, whilst additionally offering clients more trips and days out - going on shopping trips; to the theatre and cinema; or visiting local amenities.

Prizes for the 'Monster Raffle' include: €500 (sponsored by Progressive Credit Union); €150 One for All Voucher (sponsored by Kube Kitchens); one night bed & breakfast for two people at The D Hotel, Drogheda; a round of golf for four people at Balbriggan Golf Club; a meal for two at The Glenside Hotel, Drogheda; and a host of other prizes.

Balbriggan Meals on Wheels was founded in 1975 in order to provide meals for people who were ill, recovering from illness, or for some reason were unable to care for themselves. The service currently provides in the region of 70-80 meals per day, delivered to the most vulnerable people in the community, and to people who are referred to the service by Public Health Nurses.
