Venture scouts celebrate their Chief Scout and Gaisce awards

Four Venture Scouts from 171 River Valley Scout Group were presented with their Scout Chief Scouts Award by the County Commissioner Thomas Martens at a special awards ceremony recently.

The Scout Chief Scouts Award is the culmination of over eighteen months of work for the Scouts where their scouting skills were pushed to new limits.

Presenting the awards on the night, the County Commissioner praised the Ventures for their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm in undertaking such a huge endeavour.

This award consists of seven elements based on Special Interests, Scouting Skills, an expedition and an intercultural activity.

The County Commissioner also commended them on their loyalty and dedication to the Scout Group and their fellow members.

Also on the night the same four Venture Scouts received their Bronze An Gaisce Presidents Award signed by President Michael D Higgins.

After the ceremony there were celebrations with parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and scouts.

The younger scouts were there on the night to see the rewards for hard work and dedication.

It was a very special night for the four Venture Scouts , their leaders and their families and a night that they will remember for a long time. Well done to all the honoured scouts.
