Remember Us holds historic official opening of its headquarters
This week marks an historic time for a local charity which provides an invaluable social outlet and support for people with special needs.
Following a mammoth fundraising effort so well supported by the local community, Remember Us can finally declare its new headquarters in Balbriggan, officially opens on March 22.
That will mark the official opening of the bespoke building which is designed to meet the particular needs of the children and adults that Remember Us brings so much joy to on a daily basis.
Founded in 1998, Remember Us has a long history of providing a social environment for people with special needs where they can learn, form friendships and have fun.
Remember Us founder, Nora Roban said: 'We offer various weekly clubs/ activities, seasonal camps and family respite breaks, as well as providing support and information for parents, carers and siblings.
'In 2014, our Board made a decision that having a permanent presence in the community, somewhere to call home, would further help our members to be accepted in the community, develop our range of activities and help to support even more families. We embarked on a fundraising campaign to raise enough funds to buy 'a home of our own'.
All of that effort has come to fruition five years later and now Remember Us had a new place to call home.
