As part of its Golden Jubilee year, Coláiste Choilm celebrated the leadership shown by the Christian Brothers in establishing the school by launching a new role of Prefect for 6th year students.

Prefects are the school's role models. They make a valuable contribution to the wider school community at Coláiste Choilm, taking on important leadership roles, assisting and supporting both staff and pupils, liaising with prospective parents and pupils and other visitors.

The Prefect is also called the Cinnire (guide). By their manner, attitude, relationships and deeds they will act as a guide to younger students and to their peers.

Also leading the way at the school is Coláiste Choilm Parents' Council, who recently purchased a fitness suite that can be used by students as part of their Physical Education courses. Students are instructed in the correct use of the machines as part of an overall approach to health and fitness. It's part of the schools PE and sports programme which is co-ordinated by the schools PE teachers; Ms Carmody, Ms Hynesand Mr Dailly. It includes initiatives such as the 'Run for Life', Sports Day and European Day of Fitness.
