Monster Draw to help Meals on Wheels get a new bus on the road

Community news

Well done to all the winners of the many fabulous prizes on offer as Balbriggan Meals on Wheels held its Monster Draw to raise money for a new bus for the charity.

Balbriggan Meals on Wheels was founded in 1975 in order to provide meals for people who were ill, recovering from illness, or for some reason were unable to care for themselves.

It currently provides in the region of 70 - 80 meals per day, with meals delivered to the most vulnerable people in our community; people who are referred to us by Public Health Nurses and Social Workers. It is an essential service and requires all the support it can get; both in monetary terms and by means of the time that our volunteers contribute to keeping the service running.

A crucial part of our service is our Dinner Club, which currently runs three days per week at our Hampton Street base.

In order to strengthen the service and maintain and expand our Dinner Club, Balbriggan Meals on Wheels is currently fundraising and seeking sponsorship with the intention of getting our very own minibus. and the draw will help towards that goal. Thanks goes out to all the volunteers, sponsors and people who bought tickets and supported the fundraising effort.
