'Healthy Fingal' learning portal launched

An innovative online platform to support the sports and health education of school children called the Healthy Fingal Learning Portal has been launched by Fingal County Council.

Fingal County Council's Sports Office created the user-friendly site to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of its sports programmes.

Videos, tutorials and forums are featured which educate school-aged children on a range of topics, activities and skills which contribute to a healthy and active lifestyle.

The launch at Balbriggan Educate Together National School featured an impressive video tutorial of the site, and tribute was paid to the support rendered by Fingal's IT Department and Healthy Ireland.

Mayor of Fingal Cllr Eoghan O'Brien said: 'I'd like to acknowledge the great work of Fingal's Sports Office in collaboration with the I.T. Department and thank all the clubs, schools and community groups for their invaluable feedback in developing this website.'

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council AnnMarie Farrelly said: 'The Healthy Fingal Learning Portal will support the health and sports development of young people, but its importance does not end there. The potential for this platform is huge, as a similar or linked website could be developed for any Fingal Department to deliver training or host public information.'

The Healthy Fingal Learning Portal is accessible at https://learning.fingal.ie/
