Fun skating event to raise funds for cancer services

A new 5K fun skating event in aid of the breast cancer services at Beaumont Hospital is taking place in August and local people are being urged to get involved.

The 'Blades 'n' Shades' event is taking place on Sunday, August 19 in Fr Collins Park, Donaghmede, at 10am. Take part on roller blades or roller skates and complete two laps of the park to cross the finish line! All entrants required to wear helmets and knee and elbow protection.

The event will begin with a special demonstration of skating skills by members of the Dublin Roller Derby and who will then act as marshalls on the course!

If you fall over, they'll help you get right back up again! Bring the whole family and enter your younger children in the free Whacky Races event - a fun race on wheels (skates, blades, skateboards, bikes, scooters, etc) for children under eight years

It costs €25 to register at www.beaumontfundraising.ie/or by phone on 01 809 2457 - places are limited so get your blades or skates on for a unique and fun day in the park and help raise funds for breast cancer services.
