Transition Years at Fingal Community College are engaging with a social project called Young Social Innovators.
They have chosen the topic of immigration and have been spreading awareness about various cultures in our community and the struggle of asylum seekers who are living in Ireland in Direct Provision.
The students organised a Culture Day in the Swords school last week, to showcase all the amazing variety of cultures and ethnicities in the school.
There was over 70 students representing 15 countries around the world including Russia, Spain, the Congo, Philippines and Lithuania.
This initiative was student led and all year groups had an opportunity to go and see presentations, taste some home cooked food, see some national costumes and hear some traditional music from around the world.
It was a memorable day for the whole school and great credit is due to the students who came up with initiaitve and executed it with great flair.
