Dogs are now known for their painting and decorating skills but there were plenty of them to be seen at the Colourtrend paints and wallpaper store on Main Street recently.

The gathering of pooches was in celebration of a very special coffee morning at the store, held in aid of Dogs Trust.

Each year, local Colourtrend stores hold a fundraising event for a different charity and it is a member of staff that gets to nominate what charity benefits from the initiative.

This year, the Swords store went for staff member, Shauna Conroy's choice and coming from a house of many pets, Shauna decided the coffee morning in Swords should benefit Dogs Trust.

Shauna, who is from Swords, has a love of dogs running through her family as her father is attached to the dog training unit of An Garda Síochána.

Dogs Trust were of course, delighted to be nominated as the charity to benefit the fundraiser and brought along some of the dogs it is trying to re-home to show everyone who participated in the event, what a worthy charity their money would go towards.

Signs and balloons in the shop window invited passers-by to come in and have a cup of coffee and a slice of dog, meet the dogs and make a contribution to the charity and according to the store manager, Aoife Brennan, the event went really well.

Aoife said the staff were delighted to host the event for Dogs Trust and everyone who came along and took part had a great time and enjoyed meeting the Dogs Trust pooches.

She said the money is still being counted for the event but expressed her gratitude to everyone who took part.

The store has been in Swords for six years now, selling Irish made paint and wallpaper and is going strong at its Main Street location.
