Over 250 turn out for horticultural show
The 67th annual show held at St. Maurs GAA club had a total of 543 entries across the categories.
The exhibit had displays of flowers, plants, vegetables and arts and crafts to name a few.
The judging started at 11pm and the show reopend at 2pm. A plant bric-a-brac sale took place from 2pm to 5pm.
A raffle and presentation of the trophies took place and was followed by an auction of a number of the exhibits.
Local businesses also took part in the exhibit with Eurospar, Main Street, Rush, winning the best Floral Business Frontage. The runner up in this category went to The Strand Bar, Main Street, Rush. Both were given a rosette and a framed certificate.
Secretary of the Horticultural Society, Melissa Barry said, 'It was a great day and went really well. It was better than we expected but there was a slight drop in interest compared to previous years. We are doing our best to promote all the wonderful crafts on display at the show'.
The society are hoping to build on the exhibition and are hosting a day trip to the Huntingbrook Gardens in Blessington, Co. Wicklow.
